Are you beginning your search for an SUV that can handle the roads of Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Rio Rancho, NM? Two popular options are the Kia Sorento and the Nissan Rogue. Known for their interior space and capabilities, these SUVs bring their own advantages to the road. So, how would you determine which is the superior ride?

Pitre Kia is here to help with our Kia Sorento vs. Nissan Rogue comparison. Below, we'll show you how both SUVs stack up on paper. Let's go!

Performance Options

When choosing your SUV, how it drives is an important factor.

The Nissan Rogue offers one engine across all of its trims-a 1.5L turbo 3-cylinder engine that delivers 201 horsepower when working with an Xtronic CVT®. You'll have a choice of front-wheel drive or Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

The Kia Sorento offers greater flexibility with four engine options, with three of them outperforming the Nissan Rogue's engine. Two of them are even hybrid engines, including a plug-in hybrid option, so you can drive green. The gas engines even come equipped with Idle Stop and Go, which allows you to save gas while stopping at a light.

Interior Features

The Sorento and the Rogue offer comfortable seating inside their cabins. Both have standard cloth seats, but you can upgrade to leather-trimmed seating on higher trim levels for an extra bit of style.

Infotainment systems are an important part of each SUV, too. These systems let you connect your smartphone for directions, your favorite tunes, and to make calls on the go. You can even upgrade both to include in-vehicle navigation.

However, the Nissan Rogue's infotainment touchscreen tops out at 9 inches while the Kia Sorento's available touchscreen spans 10.25 inches, which makes it easier to read important information.

Driver-Assist and Safety Technologies

Your vehicle is designed to keep you safe while you're on the go. For the Rogue and the Sorento, these safety features include driver-assist technologies, like:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist-This system helps prevent or lessen the severity of accidents by warning you of imminent crashes and applying the brakes when needed.
  • Lane Departure Warning-Using a camera and a radar, this system monitors your position within your lane and warns you if you begin to drift unintentionally.
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance-This feature keeps an eye on your blind spots. When you try to change lanes, it warns you if a ride is present in your blind spot.

The Sorento goes further than the Rogue with its standard Driver Attention Warning with Leading Vehicle Departure Alert feature. While the Rogue also has a Driver Attention Warning feature, it doesn't have a system that lets you know when the ride ahead of you starts to move after being still.

Which SUV Stands Out From the Crowd?

While both the Nissan Rogue and the Kia Sorento have a lot to offer, it's clear which SUV stands out in terms of performance, interior features, and safety technologies: the Kia Sorento.
